ALAN Dunbar (Rathmore) has added his name to a high quality list of players competing in this weekend’s Rosapenna Scratch Cup.
The British Amateur champion will join fellow Irish representatives, Dermot McElroy (Ballymena) and Reeve Whitson (Mourne) in the field at the Co Donegal venue.
All three were part of the Irish team that played in the Home Internationals at Glasgow Gailes last month.
Dunbar, who will begin his quest for a European Tour card later this month, last played in the tournament back in 2010 when he finished behind Connor Doran (Banbridge).
Last year’s winner, Aaron Kearney (Castlerock) is back to defend his title alongside a host of other amateur stars including Eddie McCormick (Galway) who reached the semi finals of the North of Ireland earlier this summer, former West of Ireland winner Rory Leonard (Banbridge), 2011 North of Ireland winner Patrick McCrudden (Portrush) and Ulster Interprovincial player Matt McAlpin (Portrush).
The one day 36-hole event will see competitors play round over the Sandy Hills Links in the morning, recently ranked No.50 in Britain & Ireland by Golf World and then the renowned Old Tom Morris Links in the afternoon.
The event is kindly supported by McGinley Motors, Letterkenny and will see a stiff test of golf over two of the finest links in the country.
