Maguire twins guide Loreto to Ulster District title

The supremely talented Maguire twins, Lisa and Leona, helped Loreto College (Cavan) retain their Ulster District Irish Schools Championship qualifying title at Royal Portush last Friday.

Lisa, Leona and Rebecca Brady recorded a score of 65 gross points [two best cards] at a breezy Valley Course and will now go on to defend their All-Ireland title at Milltown Golf Club on April 26.

Another sister act, Paula and Laura Grant, bagged second place for Rathmore Grammar School (Belfast) with a gross score of 58 points.

Tyne McGee, Jemma Hool and Jessica Bamber from Victoria College (Belfast) won the Junior Cup and will also play in the All-Ireland Finals.


Senior Cup

Winner – Loretto College, Cavan (Lisa Maguire, Leona Maguire, Rebecca Brady) – 65 gross points

Runner-up – Rathmore Grammar School (Paula and Laura Grant) – 58 gross points

Junior Cup

Winner – Victoria College (Tyne McGee, Jemma Hool, Jessica Bamber) – 34 gross points

Runner-up – Victoria College (Victoria Harrison, Zoe Black) – 15 gross points

Senior Individual Gross – Laura Fekkes from Ulidia Integrated College – 30 gross points

Senior Individual Nett – Brooke Hopley from Glenlola School – 43 nett points

Junior Individual Gross – Jessica Carty from Our Lady & St Patrick’s College –

31 gross points

Junior Individual Nett – Hannah King from Strathearn School – 41 nett points
